Treatment in ED without complete resolutions of symptoms.
Vague, poorly described abdominal pain
Diagnosis not clear
Unstable vitals
Alternative diagnoses (ACS, Pancreatitis, Other abdominal pathology) not ruled out.
Serial (q8h) examinations
Medications
PPI IV or PO BID
Famotidine 20 mg IV/PO BID
Sucralfate 1 gram PO QID
Maalox/Lido etc PRN
Anti-emetics
Disposition
Symptoms improved or improving
Normal Vital Signs
Ambulatory at at baseline level of function
Follow up plan established
Unstable vital signs or worsening clinical condition
Significant lab or imaging abnormalities
Patient unable to tolerate PO or ambulate
